Sustainable Tourism at the Tremont -
Help us move to Green!

At the Tremont we appreciate there is an impact on whatever we do and wherever we go. The business is a member of the Green Tourism Business Scheme, www.green-business.co.uk, to show our commitment to sustainable tourism.

So what do we actually do?

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. We sort, reuse or recycle the waste from the Tremont where ever possible. We also make this easy for guests and have introduced a recycling basket on the first floor for guests to use as required.

Buy local. 100% of our food is sourced locally, for example we use Vivian Olds butchers, St Just, for local bacon, sausages and eggs. Mushrooms are bought locally and are from the mushroom farm at Stithians, other fruit and vegetables are sourced either from the local vegetable shop, which supports Cornish farmers or the local Farmers Market.

Stay local. We encourage guests to stay local. There is so much to see and do in and around Penzance and public transport links are very good. The train ride to St Ives is a wonderful experience and no parking problems! There are maps and guide books provided that cover stunning walks in the local area. We will also arrange bike hire for the really energetic.

Energy. We have changed all the light bulbs to low energy - even the floodlight at the front! All television sets and appliances are turned off at the socket so they are not on standby! We do not provide bottled water as we can provide Cornish water straight from the tap. We do not change towels everyday unless requested as laundry is a major use of energy.

Chemicals. Wherever possible our cleaning products are environmentally safe, including the hand soap and shower gels provided in the rooms.

We encourage guests to follow the countryside code. It reminds us all to protect, respect but above all to enjoy the delights that West Cornwall has to offer.
